Scaramucci Tells Students Never to Brag About Going to Harvard Law, Then Brags About Going

Let’s face it, going to Harvard Law School is a pretty big deal.  It’s the third highest ranked law school in the country (behind Yale and Stanford, not to brag). And, I’m not going to lie, most of the time when you meet someone who has attended, you find out pretty quickly. Graduates are more than eager to point out their shiny “HLS” degree. But Anthony Scaramucci, Trump’s new White House communications director, offered some advice to a group of students at Harvard Law School last year: Don’t brag about the place, take the high road, forget your degree and your career will benefit.

From an excerpt from a piece entitled “Give Your Harvard Degree A Smoochy, Says Gucci Scaramucci” in the Harvard Law Record:

“I have one piece of advice I want all of you to take with you when you leave this school: immediately quit acting like you went to Harvard Law School,” said Anthony Scaramucci, class of ’89, during a 45-minute fireside chat hosted by Alex Rienzie, President of the Harvard Association for Law and Business, on Tuesday, March 22nd. “The sooner you stop acting like a Harvard alumnus, the better off your career will be.”

Well, he must have forgotten that advice. Fresh off the announcement of his new White House role, Scaramucci appeared on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper this weekend where he bragged about his Harvard days not once, but twice!

Tapper asked him whether he would have taken a meeting with the Russian attorney. He couldn’t help but mention HLS.

“I’m not sure, how is that, I’m going to answer honestly and tell you I’m not sure since I went to Harvard Law School, I probably would have asked a few people, and someone would have probably told me to get a cut out and take the meeting to see if there is any legitimacy to it,” Scaramucci said on Sunday morning.

That’s not the only time he mentioned attending the Ivy league university. It randomly came up again during the same interview when he called out one of his former professors, Laurence Tribe, who has been a frequent critic of the Trump administration.

“I took constitutional law from Larry Tribe,” Scaramucci said.  “And if Professor Tribe is listening–I know he doesn’t like the President–but I did get an A- in your course.”

So much for not bragging….
