Police released more information about one of the victims killed in a mall shooting in San Antonio Texas on Sunday and it’s absolutely heartbreaking.   Jonathan Murphy, who became known as the “Good Samaritan,” died in the shooting when he attempted to intervene and stop the suspects, police say.

ABC News reports Murphy was at the mall with his wife when the shooting broke out, both were planning on getting their wedding rings cleaned.

Murphy was the only person killed in what police are calling a botched robbery attempt at a Kay Jewelers on Sunday afternoon at the Rolling Oaks Mall.

A suspect who shot Murphy was then shot by another civilian who was nearby when it all went down.  However, that suspect is expected to survive and his wounds are not considered life-threatening.

At that time, the second suspect took off through the mall and police say he continued shooting at others as he attempted to flee. In addition to Murphy, two other individuals were shot but are expected to survive.

That suspect, identified by police as Jason Matthew Prieto, was eventually taken into custody.

Both suspects now facing charges for capital murder and aggravated theft. Murphy’s stepdaughter’s boyfriend spoke to ABC News and described Murphy as being in a “loving” relationship that was as “happy” as anyone could imagine.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family, who said Murphy worked 80 hours a week to support them.  According to KENS5, the page has raised over $23,000 and has a goal of $35,000.
