The trial of David “DJ” Creato Jr. continues Wednesday morning in Camden County, New Jersey. Creato is accused of murdering his 3-year-old son Brendan and leaving the body in a park on October 13, 2015. Creato, who maintains his innocence, was the one who reported his son’s disappearance that morning. Authorities found Brendan’s body a few hours later, at a location just a few blocks from their apartment. Prosecutors say half of Brendan’s body had been submerged in a creek, and that he died from either drowning or suffocation.
On Tuesday, digital forensics expert Louis Cinquanto testified regarding Creato’s cell phone. The expert said had recovered a photo of the area where Brendan was found, taken a day and a half before he disappeared. Cinquanto also said he found evidence that Creato had logged into social media accounts belonging to Julia Stensky, his girlfriend at the time. The jury had already heard about some of the text messages sent between Creato and Stensky. The two had been fighting because Stensky didn’t like children and took issue with how much of Creato’s attention went to his son. The prosecution’s theory is that Creato killed the boy to appease her, although she’s not suspected of any wrongdoing.
Court is scheduled to resume at 9:00 am ET Wednesday morning.
