20 Years Later, Grand Juror Says He Knows Who Murdered JonBenet Ramsey

A grand juror who served on the case against JonBenet Ramsey‘s parents, Patsy and John Ramsey, gave a tell-all interview of his experience to ABC News. The full interview with the grand juror, whose face was obscured and voice altered to protect his anonymity, will air Friday night on “20/20,” but “Good Morning America” showed a preview this morning.

The man discussed how the prosecution presented evidence against the Ramsey parents, including bringing them to the Ramsey’s home, and that he believed there was enough evidence to indict them for their daughter’s murder. Of course, the grand jury as a whole did not reach that conclusion, opting instead to indict the parents for child abuse for allegedly putting JonBenet in the position to be killed. Prosecutors ultimately decided to drop that case and the Boulder District Attorney even apologized to the Ramseys.

Despite thinking that an indictment was appropriate, the grand juror felt that had the case gone to trial, Patsy and John would not have been convicted. Apparently while he felt there was enough evidence to meet the standard of probable cause, there was not enough to find them guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. Of course, that doesn’t mean he can’t personally think they’re guilty. The grand juror said that after hearing the evidence, he feels he knows who killed JonBenet Ramsey.

“He clearly believes that it was Patsy or John Ramsey, that’s who the evidence was presented against,” LawNewz.com founder Dan Abrams said on “Good Morning America.” Abrams did point out though, that grand jury’s only hear the prosecution’s side of the story, and don’t get to hear any evidence or arguments from the defense, so that could certainly lead one to reach a conclusion that a regular juror at a trial may not.
